The Troop 839 Rhythm
🕑 Monday Meetings
7:00 – 8:39 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, 5520 Kingwood Drive. Every Monday from mid-August through early June — except the Monday following the monthly campout.
⛰ Monthly Campouts
One weekend a month during the school year. Depart Friday evening, return Sunday. Destinations: BSA camps, state parks, and national parks within 200 miles of Houston.
☀ Summer
A full week at BSA summer camp, plus high-adventure treks for older Scouts. Monthly campouts pause for summer — the adventures don't.

First Troop Meeting of the YearKickoff
The trailer gets packed, patrols re-form, and the SPL lays out the fall program. New families always welcome.
Fall Shakedown CampoutCamping
First campout of the school year — knock the rust off, break in the new Scouts, and let the patrols find their legs.
October CampoutCamping
Prime Texas camping weather. Expect hiking, cooking competitions, and at least one legendary campfire program.

Cooler nights, bigger appetites — the dutch ovens work overtime this month.
Court of HonorCeremony
Ranks and merit badges earned all fall are awarded before the whole troop family. Cookies traditionally involved.

Yes, we camp in January. Cold-weather skills are real skills — and bragging rights last all year.
Kingwood Bark Mulch FundraiserFundraiser
Our signature event: Scouts take orders and deliver mulch across Kingwood. Funds the trailer, gear, camps, and high adventure. All hands on deck.
Webelos Investiture CeremonyCeremony
New Scouts are formally welcomed into the troop. New patrols are formed and Troop Guides assigned.
New Scout Orientation CampoutCamping
New Scouts learn basic camping skills on their first weekend out. Parents camp alongside as their own patrol and learn the ropes too.
Eagle Service ProjectsService
Life Scouts lead service projects across the community on the way to Eagle — and the whole troop turns out to swing hammers.
Spring Court of Honor & Year-EndCeremony
The school-year program wraps with awards, Eagle recognitions, and summer camp final prep.
